This is a study to help you to prepare for playing more complex fingerstyle Blues. The thumb plays in a ragtime style with the bass note alternating on each beat between the root and the fifth of the chord, followed by another chord tone on the off beat. It’s basically “boom-chick-boom-chick” with the “booms” alternating between the root and the fifth and each “chick” being another chord tone to create the back beat of a ragtime or stride feel. The right hand fingers play a simple syncopation of the upper notes in each chord. This is not very hard and sounds good enough as it is to be an excellent accompaniment for a singer or a soloist in a D Blues.
